Vi Editor Unix Commands for BASIS Admins


vi command launches a visual editor. To edit a file type

vi filename
vi editor is a default editor of all Unix systems. It has several modes. In order to write characters you will need to hit i to be in insert mode and then start typing. Make sure that your terminal has correct settings, vt100 emulation works good if you are logged in using pc.

Once you are done typing then to be in command mode where you can write/search/ you need to hit :w filename to write
and in case you are done writing and want to exit
:w! will write and exit.

I inserts text at the curson
A appends text at the end of the line.
a appends text after cursor.
O open a new line of text above the curson.
o open a new line of text below the curson.
: for command mode.
<escape> to invoke command mode from insert mode.
:!sh to run unix commands.
x to delete a single character.
dd to delete an entire line
ndd to delete n number of lines.
d$ to delete from cursor to end of line.
yy to copy a line to buffer.
P to paste text from buffer.
nyy copy n number of lines to buffer.

Answer:

Goto the T-Code TTE_SIMULATION and click on the Kernel Parameters button on the application tool bar. You should be able find the IPC version and patch level.

SAProuter Connection Errors Checklist to Fix

SAPROUTER CHECKLIST NOTES

Check :
Check the following entry in the "services" file on all hosts (client,server, saprouter):
sapxxxx   3299/tcp

Check :
Try to ping  SAPserv2 or  ping to SAPserv1 from the host saprouter

Check: 
Check whether the ports you are trying to reach are allowed in the firewall

Check :
Check your technical settings(IP Address) in transaction OSS1

Check:
Check  if the right certificate has been generated and applied.

Check:
Check whether saprouter is working or not with this command
ps -ef|grep saprouter

Check:
Check below ports opening on firewall from saprouter to each sap Server
1. 32<Instance no> (GUI)
2. 23 ( Telnet Port)
3. 80<Instance No> ( HTTP Connection)

Note: Based on your requirement open the corresponding Ports.

Check : 
Check saprouter status via command saprouter -l

Check:
Check if saprouter port 3299 is open or closed with below command (if  nothing is listed port is not used)
netstat -an | grep 3299

SAProuter Certificate Expired How to Fix ?

Error: 

    • ERROR => SncPEstablishContext() failed for target='p:CN=sapserv2, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE'
[sncxxall3374]*** ERROR => SncPEstablishContext()==SNCERR_GSSAPI  [sncxxall.c 3340]
      GSS-API(maj): The referenced credentials have expired
      GSS-API(min): Validity date of certificate is invalid
    Unable to establish the security context
    target="p:CN=sapserv2, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE"


Solution:  Steps to apply saprouter certificate

Step 1:

Download the SAP Router and SAP Cryptographic software from market place and place this under the folder usr\sap\saprouter. This folder is called as saprouter’s home folder. Extract these files with sapcar.

Step 2:

Apply for the certificate with the distinguished name of your company. This distinguished name can be found in service market place under the link
http://service.sap.com/saprouter-sncadd and the certificate for saprouter should be applied in the same link.

Step 3:

With this distinguished name generate the PSE file with sapgenpse program located in saprouter folder.


Step 4:

After generating certreq file in saprouter folder edit the file and copy the content of the file under the link http://service.sap.com/saprouter-sncadd

Step 5:

After copying click “Request Certificate” in right most corner which generates the required certificate.Copy the content of the generated file and paste it into a text file in saprouter folder. Rename the file into “srcert” and install the certificate using sapgenpse command.The PIN which we have given in the previous step should be correctly to install the certificate.

Step 6:

After installing the certificate successfully credentials were to be added to the certificate. Only the added credentials will be allowed to start the saprouter program.


Step 7:

After adding credentials we can check the installation of certificate with sapgenpse command.


Step 8:

After verifying the certificate the SAPRouter program will be started in port number 3299.

Note:
SAP Router table should be correctly defined for accessing the systems through SAP router.

How to check if SAP Router is up and running or down?

Check 1 from SAP :
Login to GUI where saprouter is setup.
Enter tcode SM59 double click on the ABAP Connection called SAPOSS and click on Connection Test. 

If no errors means SAPROUTER is running.

Check 2 from SAP Market Place :

Check 3 from Unix Level :
<hostname>: <sidadm>% saprouter -l

What is Public Budget Formulation (PBF) ?

SAP Public Budget Formulation is an add-on component that provides a collaborative environment to accommodate the requirements of the end-to-end public sector budget formulation process.
SAP Public Budget Formulation is an web-based application based on SAP NetWeaver technology platform, but can also be used as a stand-alone solution. PBF can be integrated with SAP systems and non-SAP systems. For instance, historical data such as the actual budget or the last approved budget can be used as a starting point to prepare the next budget. In addition, HR historical data can extensively be used to build simulations to budget the personel expenses. Grant, Project and Performance data can all be integrated.

PBF First Release

SAP PBF was first introduced in 2009 in the US and Canada.
Current relase : SAP PBF 7.1 was released in November 2009.

  • Budget requests, reviews and adoption- Manage budgets in a single application.
  • Operating, capital and grants budgeting - A single application for all budget types, enabling real-time budget reporting and analysis.
  • User configuration - Tailor budget forms, process controls, reports and analytics to your unique budgeting requirements and adapt them to changing requirements
  • Personnel cost forecasting - Examine and plan personnel expenditures at a highly granular level to support budgeting, spending plans and collective bargaining; based on the integration to SAP HCM.
  • Modeling and analytics - Powerful modeling tools combined with the strength of SAP Business Objects for reporting, dashboards and ad hoc analysis throughout the whole budget life cycle (Improved budget monitoring capabilities after budget adoption).
  • Text handling and automated budget book publishing - Prepare budget documents that incorporate budgets, text descriptions, graphics and more.
  • Integration - Integration with SAP and non-SAP ERP systems : integration with SAP HCM, SAP BCS (Funds Management, PSM-FM)
